Kempten, Germany – March 6, 2025 – OTT HydroMet is thrilled to announce the launch of the OTT RLS 500, a state-of-the-art radar level sensor designed to deliver accurate and reliable water level measurements. This instrument is designed by hydrologists for hydrologists to meet the growing demand for water level data and support global efforts to monitor and manage water resources effectively.
The next generation OTT RLS 500 is engineered with advanced 80 GHz radar technology, housed in a durable IP67 casing, and offers seamless integration capabilities. This ensures accurate data collection with minimal maintenance and a low total cost of ownership. The instrument also incorporates a series of smart sensors to remotely monitor the device health, reducing trips to the field.
The OTT RLS 500 offers several enhancements over the previous OTT RLS model. It uses advanced 80 GHz radar technology for higher accuracy and reliability, with an improved accuracy of ±2 mm. The new model features a narrow 8° beam angle, no blanking distance, and supports SDI-12 and RS485 (via SDI-12 and Modbus RTU) communication protocols. It also features smart sensing technology, such as integrated inclination and humidity sensors and offers an increased sensing frequency of up to 8 Hz. These upgrades make the OTT RLS 500 a more advanced and reliable solution for water level measurement.
